2-5: Rocks and Minerals

We will be talking about the Rock Cycle this week and explore what makes a rock a rock. What sort of things can you use to identify one rock from another? Where do rocks come from? If your child starts picking up rocks and exploring their luster, color, streak, hardness, taste or smell please explore with them (caution with taste that it is safe first please).
On a side note- I am so very impressed with the reading ability of the students. We talked about igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks- all big concepts to take in and hard words to pronounce. Keep up the reading and the hard work :D
